Dore bases its Programme on the scientific principle that learning difficulties are related to the efficiency of the cerebellum.

Most people with learning and attention disorders do not have one single specific condition but a number of overlapping symptoms which can often be diagnosed as separate disorders - this suggests that there is likely to be a single underlying cause. We believe that this cause lies within the cerebellum itself because the cerebellum is the only area of the brain which is separately linked to all of these different conditions.

Learning, attention and communication difficulties can manifest in different ways to affect literacy skills, memory, attention skills, coordination skills, social development and emotional wellbeing which are all symptoms of an underlying neurological disorder. The most effective way of dealing with any disability is to address the underlying cause rather than the symptoms - treat the cause and the symptoms will usually recover. Unfortunately most approaches to treating learning and attention disorders are symptom based. This is why the outcomes of other treatments are sometimes weak and cannot always be sustained after the treatment is withdrawn.

Because the cerebellum is involved in the cause of many learning, attention and communication disorders, using forms of therapy which can improve the underlying function of the cerebellum will allow the root cause of many of these disorders to be improved and give a more lasting recovery. At Dore we use a physical stimulation approach to improve cerebellar underperformance.
